January holidays are the best time to watch Christmas movies in a cozy home environment. But, if all your favorite films have already been rewatched, and the premieres of last year were timely appreciated by you, go to the cinema for a batch of new emotions. 2020 has prepared something interesting for all moviegoers. We are talking about all the new releases of the first month in our selection:

«Richard Jewell» drama, biography

from January 9th

Based on real events, the story of a security guard who discovered an explosive device at the Atlanta Olympics and managed to evacuate people in time, however, after a few days turned from a hero into the main accused. The first critical reviews of Clint Eastwood's film were enthusiastic, and the lead actor Paul Walter Hauser was prophesied with an Oscar nomination. The American Institute of Cinematography called the Richard Jewell Affair one of the best films in its traditional top ten most significant films of the year, and Katie Bates, who played the supporting role, received a Golden Globe nomination.



«Hors normes» comedy drama

from January 16th

«Hors normes» was filmed by the director's duet Olivier Nakasha and Eric Toledano, known for the tragicomedy “1 + 1”. The premiere of the film in Moscow took place in early December. A month and a half later, the picture goes on a wide release. This is a story about people who desperately need help, and about a man who gave them his whole life.



«The Lighthouse» horror, fantasy

from January 16th

A young lighthouse keeper (Robert Pattinson) arrives on a remote island off the coast of New England, and the veteran who works there (Willem Dafoe) that only drinks, sees the mermaids and asks not to kill the gulls. After four weeks of service at the lighthouse, the Pattinson's character also drinks soundly, sees the mermaids and even enters into a stormy intimate relationship with them. Further it will only get worse.



«Underwater» drama

from January 23rd

Another January premiere with Vincent Cassel is dedicated to scientists from an underwater research station: after an earthquake, they go deep into the ocean and fight for survival. Among the main characters of the horror is the mechanical engineer Nora (Kristen Stewart). In addition to them, Kassel in "Underwater", the third full-length film by William Eubank, is played by TJ Miller, Jessica Henwick and John Gallagher Jr.



«Little women» drama, melodrama

from January 30th

A new adaptation of the novel «Little women», written by Louise May Alcott 150 years ago, from Greta Herwig. The four Marsh Sisters, living in New England during the Civil War, are very close and at the same time completely different from each other: Meg is romantic, Joe is straightforward and open, Beth is quiet, and Amy is extremely charming. They grow up, fall in love, experience hopes and disappointments.
