Less than a week ago it became known that three famous galleries - Pace, Gagosian and Acquavella will sell the legendary collection of the late philanthropist Donald Marron, estimated by experts at $ 450 million. The collection of postwar and contemporary art by Marron includes about 300 works, including works by Pablo Picasso, Mark Rothko and Saya Twombly.

Recall that the Marron family chose the galleries for sale, not the auction houses Christie’s and Sotheby’s. Probably, in this way, the heirs decided to sell the paintings as soon as possible and at the same time avoid competition with the expected sale of the huge collection of Linda and Harry Maclow.

The sale of the collection indeed began quite rapidly and yesterday two paintings by Picasso from the Marron collection went for $ 110 million to the billionaire, the owner of the gambling business, Stephen Wynn, a well-known lover of this artist's work.
