Louis Vuitton releases a new supplement to the Saint-Petersburg guide series with illustrations by American artist Kelly Beeman. The Beeman style, known for its fashionable illustrations, is characterized by freedom: clean black lines, sweaty colors, flat perspectives, shapes simplified to extremes with just a few carefully crafted details. Biman fills the paintings with scenes from everyday life, inspired by childhood memories, as well as elements of her aesthetic preferences: classical sculpture and Japanese wood carving, concepts of the movement of New Reality and art of «Vienna workshops».

To work on a guidebook for Louis Vuitton, Beeman went to Russia. In her eyes, the full movement and energy of Saint-Petersburg acquires additional refinement. Her heroine, an androgynous long-haired brunette, explores the historic Russian city with her transparent, shadowless face and a keen but distant gaze.

In the fall, for three weeks, Kelly Beeman wandered tirelessly from theatres to dance schools, from gingerbread palaces to churches with gold domes. From the Winter Palace to the Petropavlovskaya Fortress, she walked on drawbridge across the Neva and snuck into secluded closed yards hidden in silence. Returning home to her studio in Brooklyn, the artist worked from memory, analyzing her thought notes. «Saint-Petersburg - young, dynamic and elegant city», - says Kelly Beeman.
